My writing career included several years in the newspaper business as a reporter, copy editor and managing editor and five years as a freelance copywriter. I have an English degree with an emphasis on creative writing from the University of South Alabama and a military journalism diploma from the Department of Defense Information School.\n\nWhile trying to make a living in the traditional sense, I managed to do a lot of writing in my spare time. Eventually, it began to pay off. I signed with a script agent in Los Angeles and managed to option my screenplay, Big Sandy, to a Hollywood producer and make some money.\n\nMy first love is novel writing, though. A few years ago I put my “novels in a drawer” on Amazon and Smashwords, but didn’t have the time or knowledge to find an audience.\nNow that I’m writing full time, my goal is to continually improve my craft and build a private detective series that will attract a wide audience that includes military veterans and truck drivers (who can relate to my hero, Jesse Yates), in addition to people who love crime thrillers and mysteries. \n
